Tips for the Best Arrangement of Your Wall Decoration

Your prettiest pictures - whether photo canvas, acrylic glass plate, aluminium dibond, HD metal print, gallery print, wall display or a classic framed photo poster - give each and every room a note of individuality. Properly arranging each work is decisive for how well the arrangement will work. Below we’ll show you a few of the best ways to hang your photos harmoniously and stylishly.

Example of Pictures arranged along a line below

Align the Pictures Along a Single Axis

A well-known harmonious arrangement is to place the bottom edge of the pictures along an imaginary line. This works simply and without problems, even without using thin picture ledges to set the pictures onto. The imaginary straight line can also be placed at the top border of the pictures.

Arrangement Along a Middle Line

Arranging your pictures on a middle line, as commonly seen in museum exhibitions, creates a great overall effect. Use a water level to determine a line along the middle of the wall and place the middle of every picture or the horizontal space between the pictures along.

Arrange Your Pictures as a Collage

A picture collage is generally arranged around an invisible cross. The images are aligned along the two vertical and horizontal lines, their edges as close as possible to the intersection of the axes.

Pro Tip: Hang Pictures at the Optimal Height

Nothing beats your own taste, but quite often pictures are hung too high. The rule of thumb: The centre of the picture should lie around 1.5 meters above ground (as always, the exception proves the rule). The height of the ceiling is not terribly important. With particularly high ceilings rather the size of the photo itself becomes more important.

Hang Pictures from the Outside Inward

Imagine a box around a large wall space. The pictures follow the outer edge of the box and fill the inner space. This arrangement is particularly suitable for a large number of pictures varying in formats and sizes. The illustrated example shows a large variety of templates for photo canvases.

Hang Pictures with the Same Format

Photos with the same format, for example photo canvases or digital photos, make for an impressive enchanting wall gallery. When choosing your photos  select colour-coordinated images. Ensure that the frames are parallel to one another and the rows are always hanging along the same line: when formats and sizes are identical little mistakes and tilts become much easier to detect.
