For Earth Day, ifolor plants a tree for every order

On 22 April, International Earth Day, awareness of nature has been raised around the globe for 52 years. ifolor has been committed to environmental and climate protection for many years and is marking Earth Day with a special campaign.

ifolor has been working climate-neutrally since 2011, which is certified annually by Swiss Climate with the “CO_2 Neutral” quality label. In addition to its ongoing efforts to achieve an ecological impact, there is a special campaign for this year’s Earth Day. For every order placed between 20 and 22 April, ifolor will plant a tree in renewed cooperation with Tree-Nation. Last year, the collaboration with the non-profit organisation got off to a successful start, with more than 30,000 trees planted worldwide since then. By planting these trees, ifolor not only supports the reduction of CO_2 emissions, but also offers the opportunity to create jobs and strengthen local communities.

Change begins with small steps To leave the smallest possible ecological footprint, ifolor examines all products and processes to determine which measures could improve environmental protection. Even small details are addressed. Whether it is removing plastic cover sheets from wall calendars, using desk calendars made from European oak wood or, more recently, replacing the plastic stand for the photo flip with a cardboard stand. The plastic cover film on the photo flip is also being replaced with transparent paper. “Positive change has to start small, but it must not stop short of major changes,” explains ifolor CEO Hannes Schwarz. For example, the production site in Kreuzlingen has sourced 100% of its electricity from Swiss hydropower for more than ten years, which has resulted in a significant reduction in emissions. In addition, the recycling rate for photo chemicals has been increased, and cardboard and printing paper waste is consistently recycled.

Supporting two sustainable projects Unavoidable emissions are offset by financing two Swiss Climate environmental projects: “Energy-efficient cookers in Ghana” and “Forest protection in the Congo Basin”. In the former, specially developed, efficient cookers enable families in Ghana to massively reduce their need for firewood. This stops rapid deforestation and prevents many respiratory diseases. The forest protection project in Congo prevents the clearing of the rainforest, saving a significant amount of CO_2 emissions each year.
